Sree Narayana Mission Melbourne, a registered not for profit organization has been serving the community for the last 6 years. From a modest start, the organization has grown to be one of the institutions of high reputation through the hard work of the Committee, registered members and also the good will and generosity of the community. Within the constraints of resources the organization has always tried to live up to the expectations of its stake holders and has been spreading the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru,a great saint and social reformer who taught “One caste, One religion and One God” for humanity. Keeping faith with Philosophies, Teachings and Vision of Sree Narayana Guru, SNMM aims to provide social and community services regardless of race, religion and language.
The main areas of activity of SNMM are social service, education, skill development, entrepreneurship, healthcare, cultural, sports and other humanitarian assistance for the benefit of general public with special focus on the weaker section of the society. The doors of SNMM is always open for all without any discrimination. SNMM also extend its assistance for new migrants to Australia.SNMM conduct regular blood donation camps and encourages people to join this noble campaign. As part of developing art and culture, SNMM conducts multicultural events throughout the year. People from all communities participate in these events and multi diversified cultural programs are performed. More than 600 people from different parts of Melbourne participated in the recent Onam celebration hosted by SNMM.
SNMM hosts spiritual gatherings on monthly basis. All members of SNMM joins this spiritual gathering and participates in prayers and the following motivational talks/speeches. The classes and talks are normally done by the prominent personalities within the community and covers broad topics such as
- Importance of Yoga and meditation in life.
- Health awareness classes.
- Personality Development.
- Importance of tradition and cultural values.
- Leadership training.
- Importance of charity and compassion .
SNMM also promotes and delivers classes for students for preparing the selective schools entry exams. The tremendous success rate of previous classes shows the sincerity and dedication of the voluntary staffs involved in this activities. SNMM also organizes charity works throughout the year. Annual Food fest and cultural activities are normally lead by our ladies wing and the fund raised are spend for charity and infrastructure development.
Founder Members/ History
Sree Narayana Mission Melbourne was formed on an auspicious Vijayadasami day in October 2011 by Sri Krishna Kumar and Sri ArunSasidharan with the aim to propagate Guru’s philosophy and teachings, to work for universal brotherhood and to provide an unparalleled experience to its community members and to our younger generations. During the initial days, this mission was known as Sree Narayana Mission Australia. During the course of time, multiple families joined this movement. This movement was officially registered in 2013 under the name of Sree Narayana Mission Melbourne. From a modest start, the organization has grown to be one of the institutions of high reputation through the hard work of the Committee, registered members and also the good will and generosity of the wider community.
Youth Wing
The main idea behind forming SNMM youth wing is to build leadership qualities among the youths. Youth wing also provides a platform for youth to unleash their talent, creativity and enthusiasm and channelize in the right direction to develop themselves as well as help in the organizational activities. The Youth Wing of SNMM also follows the same structure and hierarchy of the main committee and supports the main committee in all their activities.
Youth wing takes various initiatives and hosts multiple events throughout the year. Contributions from youth wing towards events like Onam celebration, multi-cultural events, art exhibitions, annual sports, musical night, workshop for positive thinking etc are tremendous.
